Kigali International Airport – KGL Rwanda
Formerly called Gregoire Kayibanda International Airport, Kigali International Airport is the main gateway for all destinations in the country. It is situated in the suburb of Kanombe in Kigali, Rwanda. Since the country is land-locked, it served as a major strategic point during the Rwandan Civil war. Although the airport served as the country’s main airport, it also holds great importance to its regional flights serving Uganda, Burundian, and Congo cities. In fact in 2017, the airport had served 800,000 passengers that traveled that year.

KGL Airport has three terminals; the main terminal, the VIP terminal, and the cargo terminal. With the continuing rise of passengers that travels to the country, the airport experiences renovations making them among the 7th best regional airport in Africa due to its capacity to respond to a disaster. Kigali Airport handles an average of 300 flights a week. The runway of the airport is considered to be one of the longest in the world, making it easier for all types of aircraft, domestic or international, to land. While in the area, travelers can take the chance to visit its surrounding cities such as Gikondo or Kalembule.
