Greater Binghamton Airport is a Broome county-owned airport. It is a commercial service airport that is located in Binghamton, New York and serves the Southern tier of New York. Its airport code, BGM, stands for the Binghamton City’s name. The airport was opened in 1951. Before 1970, it was Broome County Airport, then in 1980, it was renamed Edwin A. Link Field-Broome County Airport in honor of Edwin A. Link, an inventor and aviation pioneer. However, in 1991, it was renamed Binghamton Regional Airport, and in 2003, it used its present name. As of 2010, the airport had handled almost 110,000 passengers.
