Sarasota–Bradenton International Airport – SRQ
The Sarasota–Bradenton International Airport is one of the sixteen international airports of the U.S. state of Florida. The airport is strategically situated in Sarsota, FL, and serves the three jurisdictions namely; Sarasota City, Sarasota County, and Manatee County in Florida. The Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, whose airport code is SRQ, was two separate airports before; one being Bradenton Airport and the other is Sarasota Lowe Field. The former was abandoned during the World War II while the latter declined in 1941 and closed in 1961. It was only in 1942 when Sarasora-Bradenton Airport which was the combination of the two airports operated as one.

SRQ-Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport was assigned with two-character code RS before, but during aviation growth the need for giving three-character code arose. Since then, the airport was designated with SSO code but was later changed due to the possibility of being misinterpreted and be confused with SOS, the international distress signal. During the World War II the airport was occupied by U.S. military commands and units and was given improvements and expansions. After the war, the airport again was expanded and had its first airline. The airport had Air Force One during the September 11 attack with President George W. Bush one of the schools in Sarasota. You can easily drive to the tourists' sites of Oldsmar, Land O’ Lakes, and Lutz from the airport.
